Tottenham are considering signing a central midfield in January, according to Sky Sports.

The report claims Ross Barkley is “high among their targets following interest in the summer.”

Barkley very nearly joined Chelsea on deadline day but pulled out the deal at the last minute. The midfielder is set to consider his options in January.

Spurs also moved for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes. Like Barkley, Gomes can play in a deeper midfield role or as part of the attacking group. Perhaps the club will move for him if Barkley is unavailable.

Sky’s story also links Tottenham with Ajax duo Donny van de Beek and Justin Kluivert, as well as Bayer Leverkusen forward Kai Havertz.
