Guillem Balague, author of a new book about Mauricio Pochettino, has revealed the Tottenham manager’s biggest strength is his charismatic approach with players.

The Spanish journalist was speaking on Sky Sports show ‘The Debate’.

“What I see with him is an approach that I didn’t expect,” said Balague. “Those hugs, those kisses on the cheeks. He’s a guy that listens. He’s very tactile.

“Once you’ve got that, you get the player. There is an empathy there. He [has] charisma that people get attracted to immediately.

“Very quickly you open up [to him]. Hugo Lloris will tell you that he’s changed his life.

“Once those barriers are down, and then he says ‘run more, run more’, you’re going to do it for him. It’s a different way to many other managers.”
