Dele Alli has echoed Mauricio Pochettino’s comments following Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat against Leicester City, suggesting Tottenham weren’t good enough at the King Power Stadium.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Alli said: “It was a very disappointing performance from us in the first half. We should never have been in the situation where we were two goals behind. It was not good enough.”
Asked if Spurs can get back into the title race, the 21-year-old said: “We can’t focus on that. After performances like this we have to keep picking up points. To lose to Leicester away is disappointing but we have to pick ourselves up.
“We have to keep performing. It is a long season and we just have to keep picking up points.”
Alli was one of Tottenham’s worst performers on the night, and many fans have called for him to be dropped for the trip to Watford on Saturday.
It’s safe to say the supporters were unhappy with the entire team after Tuesday’s defeat.
