Mauricio Pochettino has suggested Georges-Kevin Nkoudou could start for Tottenham against APOEL in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Nkoudou has rarely featured this season, and his manager recently said the winger needs to show more in training to be in contention for first team games.
In his press conference ahead of Wednesday’s game, Pochettino praised Nkoudou’s recent improvement.
“I am happy with [Nkoudou] in the last few weeks,” said the Spurs boss. “He started to realised that he needed to improve in many things.
“He’s so young. I wanted to give him an opportunity before but maybe it was impossible. Maybe tomorrow he will have the possibility to play and to prove that he can help the team and start to grow up.
“When players are so young, always they need different timings and to realise how they need to work. I think he’s a great guy.
“There’s nothing to complain about with his behaviour and everything, because he’s a lovely kid. In the last few weeks he’s shown he should have the possibility to play and show his quality.” (Quotes via Ham&High.)
I’d love for Nkoudou to reach his potential at Tottenham, but I just can’t see it happening. I hope he can begin to prove me and others wrong on Wednesday.
