Harry Winks will miss two more weeks of action due to an ankle injury, according to The Mail.

After Tottenham’s 5-2 win over Southampton on Boxing Day Day, Winks suffered a recurrence of the ankle problem that saw him sidelined towards the end of last season and the beginning of the current campaign.

The Mail suggests the midfielder will miss Spurs’ next two matches against Southampton in the Premier League and Newport County in the FA Cup.

Victor Wanyama’s return to full fitness softens the blow a little, but it’s a real shame for Winks. The 21-year-old was in form and his chances of earning a place in England’s World Cup squad looked promising – hopefully injuries don’t end those chances.
