Manchester United are interested in signing Toby Alderweireld, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Alderweireld was left out of the Tottenham squad that travelled to Juventus in midweek, leading to speculative reports suggesting he could be out of favour.

Mauricio Pochettino has explained the Belgian was left at home to work on his fitness, and taking him to Turin could have risked his career.

However, the Spurs manager’s justification hasn’t stopped the media from linking Alderweireld with a move away from the club.

The MEN claims Jose Mourinho is keen for Manchester United to sign the 28-year-old.

I wouldn’t be surprised if all of the top clubs are having a look at Alderweireld, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll leave Tottenham – he’s just as likely to sign a new deal.
