Barcelona will drop their interest in Tottenham target Jonathan Tah to increase their chances of signing Toby Alderweireld this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Earlier this week, reports emerged linking Spurs with a move for Leverkusen centre-back Tah, with speculation surrounding Alderweireld’s future continuing to spiral.
Samuel Umtiti’s future at Barcelona is also currently under scrutiny, and the La Liga giants are thought to be looking at potential replacements – Alderweireld and Tah have both been mentioned as possible targets.
However, Spanish outlet Gol Digital believes Barcelona will allow Tottenham to sign Tah if it helps the Catalan club’s chances of bringing Alderweireld in.
Tah is a first-team regular at Leverkusen. The 22-year-old has also earned three caps for the German national team.
The fact that Barcelona are being linked with him could be an indicator of his quality, although it sounds like they are more fond of Alderweireld.
If the Belgian does leave Spurs, it will be difficult to find a replacement of sufficient quality.
I’m sure Tah won’t be the only player Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino are looking at. Watch this space.
