Tottenham have made an enquiry for Brazilian defender Dalbert, according to reports in Italy, but it has been knocked back by his current employers Inter Milan.
Dalbert has made only four Serie A starts since joining Inter from Ligue 1 side Nice last summer.
Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web claims Inter received enquiries for the 24-year-old left-back from four clubs in January – Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Marseille and Spurs.
All four approaches were apparently turned down as Inter remain convinced of the Brazilian’s ability to become a first-team player.
If the story is genuine, it could indicate Tottenham are searching for a new left-back this summer.
Danny Rose’s future is still up in the air following the controversial interview he gave last summer in which he appeared to criticise the club’s transfer and wage policy.
The England international has struggled to cement a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up in recent months, with Ben Davies emerging as the manager’s preference at left-back.
If Rose does leave, Spurs will need to sign competition and cover for Davies. It’s too early to say if Dalbert is a definite target, but it’s a story worth keeping an eye on.
