Inter Milan are still considering a move for Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela at the end of the season, according to reports in Italy.
Lamela came on as a substitute in Spurs’ 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday, replacing Harry Kane who limped off with an ankle injury.
As a result, Lamela could be set for a spell in the starting line-up if Mauricio Pochettino continues to select him in behind makeshift centre-forward Son Heung-min.
However, the Argentinian’s long-term Tottenham future is somewhat doubtful. He has repeatedly been linked with a return to Italy ever since leaving AS Roma in 2013.
The 26-year-old has made only 141 appearances over five seasons for Tottenham because of persistent injuries.
The worst of those problems occurred last season when Lamela required surgery on both hips – that saw him miss over a year of action.
He seems to be over the worst of it now, which is perhaps why Inter Milan are said to be interested again.
Italian outlet Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claims Inter are waiting to see if they will qualify for next season’s Champions League before making a move.
Lamela has always been a divisive figure among Spurs fans, so his potential exit will certainly provoke debate among the supporters.
