Tottenham have been tracking Atalanta midfielder Bryan Cristante, according to the Telegraph.
Cristante is currently on loan at Atalanta from Benfica, but the Serie A club want to buy him following a fine debut season in Italy.
However, his form has led to interest from a number of Italian giants, including Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan – that’s according to Football Italia.
The Telegraph claims Spurs have been tracking the 23-year-old and had hoped he would play a part for Italy against England at Wembley on Tuesday, but he was left on the bench.
Atalanta have apparently already triggered a £3.5 million release clause to sign Cristante permanently from Benfica, but there is no indication that a deal will definitely go through.
That means Tottenham still have a chance to sign him for a bargain price. They might want to act fast if fresh reports from Italy are to be believed.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims Atalanta will slap a £31 million price tag on Cristante if he becomes theirs to sell.
It’s clearly a bit of a complicated situation, with Cristante likely unsure of where his immediate future lays. It will be interesting to see where this story goes.
