Christian Eriksen’s stunning goal provided the basis for Tottenham’s memorable 3-1 comeback victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Willy Caballero was completely deceived by the pace and dip on Eriksen’s strike, but that didn’t stop some pundits from suggesting the goal would have been prevented had Thibaut Courtois been fit on the day.
A freeze-frame image showing the ball’s highest point, posted by Reddit user collo1989, proves just how ridiculous that suggestion is. See it below.
The ball was at such a height that any goalkeeper in the world would have thought it was sailing over the crossbar.
The strike was Eriksen’s second brilliant goal in two games after his wonderful curled effort in the 3-0 win at Swansea in the FA Cup.
Even without the goals, the 26-year-old seems to have hit a new level of performance this season, as proved by yet another sublime creative performance at Stamford Bridge.
Spurs are now eight points above fifth-placed Chelsea in the battle for Champions League qualification thanks to Eriksen’s opener and Dele Alli’s double.
