Paris Germain have begun informal talks over the potential summer signing of Toby Alderweireld, according to reliable Belgian football journalist Kristof Terreur.

Talks between Alderweireld and Tottenham over a new contract broke down earlier this year, and reports have claimed the defender could be set to leave this summer.

Alderweireld has struggled to reclaim his place in the starting line-up following a serious hamstring injury he suffered back in November.

The 29-year-old has been left out recent match day squads, leading to suggestions he has fallen out with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Spurs boss has repeatedly claimed Alderweireld’s absences have been fitness-related, but that hasn’t stopped the media touting a summer transfer.

Terreur claims PSG have begun “enquries and informal talks” over Alderweireld, but it’s unclear whether he means those talks are within PSG or with Tottenham.

What’s more, Terreur cites a Financial Times article that suggests PSG are on course to fail Financial Fair Play tests, which could obviously have a affect any potential move for Alderweireld.

It’s impossible to predict the centre-back’s future at this stage, but the speculation looks set to continue over the coming weeks.
