Wilfried Zaha has dealt a blow to Tottenham by suggesting he will stay at Crystal Palace next season.
The former Manchester United winger has been a long-term target for Spurs, and reports this week claim he is once again on Mauricio Pochettino’s summer shortlist.
Zaha has been one of the standout players outside of the top six in the Premier League this season, leading to alleged interest from Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal.
But the 25-year-old says his love for Palace could see him stay at the club beyond the summer transfer window.
“Crystal Palace is my home town. The support is genuine support. It is families and kids who love us as players. I do not really see myself anywhere else,” said Zaha (via the Standard).
“Obviously I am contracted for four years. I am just enjoying my football at Palace right now. I am happy where I am. All this stuff about us getting relegated, I just want us to be stable.”
Spurs are believed to be keen on adding another attacker to their squad this summer despite the fact January arrival Lucas Moura is struggling for minutes as it is.
Fernando Llorente is expected to leave the Londoners at the end of the season, meaning Tottenham could do with a forward who can play through the middle.
Pochettino appears to be targeting versatile attackers – Zaha can play on either wing, and perhaps he is seen as a potential back-up option, or partner, for Harry Kane.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs act on their interest in the coming months.
