Tottenham are tracking Red Bull Salzburg forward, Hee-Chan Hwang, according to the London Evening Standard.
Hwang is the international teammate of Spurs star Heung-Min Son and the two are said to be close friends.
The 22-year-old was on the scoresheet in Salzburg’s Europa League quarter-final victory over Lazio and should feature in tonight’s (Thursday) semi-final second leg against Marseille.
The Standard believes Hwang would be interested in joining Son at Tottenham, although the Londoners could face competition from Liverpool as well as clubs in Germany and Spain.
Hwang has been playing in Austria for three years and his current contract expires in the summer of 2021.
Spurs are expected to sell Fernando Llorente this summer, while Vincent Janssen is being linked with another loan spell at Fenerbahce.
That will leave room in the squad for a new forward. Tottenham are also reportedly chasing Wilfried Zaha and Anthony Martial.
Hwang would be a much cheaper alternative, but Spurs are likely to raise plenty of transfer funds if they sell Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham make their interest in Hwang concrete in the coming weeks.
Keep Toby and Danny Rose …. a good base foundation ….. it’s not all about how much money you can get ..
Keeping Toby would seem to be impossible for Spurs IF the reported 150 to 180K salary that Toby is demanding is true. Rose shot himself in the foot with that “interview” he did while injured.
Go back to ModRat days when he went on to the pitch but really didn’t perform (just waiting on his RM transfer). Bale turned up late for training etc, etc. I’m not saying that Toby and Danny would do this BUT Spurs have been burnt before. IF the salary demands for Toby are true….Spurs will just NOT do that (there would be a line of players out MoPo’s door wanting more money.
It seems obvious that there is something going on between Toby and MoPo as Toby is obviously NOT playing. To me, Spurs are best with a back 3 (Sanchez, Toby and Jan) and that is not happening, is it?
Just my 2c
