Paris Saint-Germain want to sign Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen for £100 million this summer, according to the Express.
Eriksen has been in fine form for Spurs this season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions – his best tally since joining the club from Ajax in 2013.
The Express claims PSG are considering making a £100m move for the Dane at the end of the season.
However, there are a number of reasons the report doesn’t quite ring true.
Daniel Levy has already insisted Tottenham won’t sell any of their key players this summer, although it seems likely Toby Alderweireld will leave the club – that’s a slightly different situation.
For me, even £100 million won’t be enough for Spurs to part ways with Eriksen given his importance to the team.
What’s more, PSG must be careful with their recruitment this summer after almost falling foul of Financial Fair Play regulations last year with the signing of Neymar.
The only way they could possible make another huge signing this summer would be to sell Neymar, and that’s unlikely.
Finally, the Express isn’t the most reliable outlet when it comes to transfer stories. Until a more reputable publication picks up on the rumour, Tottenham fans have nothing to worry about.
Not worried at all. For the past two months Barcelona were the front runners for Eriksens signature now it’s PSG. Within the next two weeks it’ll be Real Madrid thereafter, Bayern Munich’s name will be thrown in the ring alongside the two Manchester clubs. This latest report is clearly a fabrication. Any Spurs player worth his salt will be subject to such speculation including the manager. In addition to that, various reports linking every Tom, Dick and Harry to the club, is assumed a replacement for our outgoing stars to so called bigger clubs who will pay them better wages. The bullshit will continue right up to the start of next season.
