Tottenham face Newcastle United in the penultimate game of the Premier League season at Wembley on Wednesday night.

Spurs need at least four points from their final two games to finish above Chelsea and qualify for the Champions for a third successive season.

With that in mind, Mauricio Pochettino has a number of decisions to make regarding his team selection.

Serge Aurier and Mousa Dembele are still absent through injury, while Eric Dier (ill) will also miss out.

Jan Vertonghen has recovered from the ankle injury he sustained in the defeat to West Brom – he is likely to start in a back three again.

The lack of central midfield options could force Pochettino’s hand. I expect he’ll deploy the same 3-4-3 system we saw at West Brom, but with a couple of changes.

Ben Davies will almost certainly come in for Danny Rose on the left, while Erik Lamela could be replaced by Heung-Min Son.

If that’s the case, Christian Eriksen will once again drop slightly deeper to partner Victor Wanyama in midfield.

Here’s our predicted XI to face Newcastle – what’s yours? Let us know in the comments.

  1. When paying a back 3 we should complement that always with 5 across the middle, 2 of which are the wing-backs with 2 up top or a very loose 1-1.

This formation with the players we have a fantastic combination of attack, creativity and defence.

  2. Kane hasn’t been himself since the injury and the infamous goal claim. Personally I think he deserves to be dropped to the bench.

    I’d like to see:

    Lloris

    Toby Sanchez Jan
    Trippier Wanyama Eriksen Davies
    Moura Dele Son

Don’t play a recognised striker but have a front 3 who can interchange. Alli is capable to being a target man if necessary and Son and Moura have the skill and pace to stretch the Newcastle backline giving Alli and Eriksen space to move into

If needed can can come of the bench, but it may just be the kick up the ass the team and he need to get back to playing again. They look like a team that’s been distracted by the Kane stories: Kane to Real; is he fully fit; will he produce at the world cup; did he actually score that goal; will he catch Salah, etc!
Don’t need those distraction today, need a team focused on getting the job finished!

  3. I completely agree with the idea Phil has. Although I’d play Rose over Davies.
We scored 4 with Kane injured and since he’s returned he’s offered very little and makes us one dimensional.

Let’s do this in style !

  4. I also like phil’s Plan, and agree about Kane, Sonny was great up front during his absence and I would like to see moura start with Dele and Eriksen, MK you are right dude, we’ve become to predictable and this plan would definitely keep the game creative and unpredictable! So yeah, let’s do it with style!
