Danny Rose has hinted he will stay at Tottenham this summer despite reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The left-back has struggled to cement his place in Spurs’ starting line-up since returning from a long-term knee injury earlier this season.
The form of Ben Davies and critical comments Rose made about the club last August haven’t help his cause.
Last month, reports claimed Manchester United remain interested in taking Rose to Old Trafford this summer.
And in the last week, there have suggestions Mauricio Pochettino will urge chairman Daniel Levy to sell Rose – as well as Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele – as quickly as possible.
Pochettino apparently wants to raise funds for new signings in time for the new season.
But Rose insists his troubles of the last year are behind him, and the 27-year-old says he is looking forward to fighting for his place next term.
“It (the interview) happened 10 months ago, there is no point talking about it now,” Rose said (via the Telegraph).
“I regret nothing, I didn’t tell any lies, there is no point talking about it. I like to think everyone has moved on, I am here and I am looking forward to coming back to pre-season and hopefully me and Ben [Davies] can start fresh and fight for the No 1 position.”
I’m still not convinced Rose is certain to be a Tottenham player at the beginning of next season – if Spurs receive an attractive offer, it may be difficult to turn down.
His future could also be affected by his performances for England at the World Cup.
