Tottenham teenager Keenan Bennetts is set to join Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, according to the London Evening Standard.

The 19-year-old, who has never made a senior appearance for Spurs, is keen to join the German side to increase his chances of playing first team football.

The Standard notes that Bennetts was born to a German mother and represented Germany at Under-15 level before switching allegiances to England.

He becomes the latest in a string of young English players to move to the Bundesliga after Jadon Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund and Everton’s Ademola Lookman was loaned to RB Leipzig – both Sancho and Lookman were once linked with Tottenham.

Spurs are thought to be “relaxed” about Bennett’s exit. One of his academy teammates, 17-year-old Reo Griffiths, has been offered a professional contract amid more interest from Germany.

The club has announced contract extensions for a number of young players in recent weeks, including Davinson Sanchez, Kyle Walker-Peters, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Harry Winks.

As long as Mauricio Pochettino keeps all of the youngsters he wants to, everyone should remain happy.
