Justin Kluivert has revealed he will not sign a new contract with Ajax as he no longer trusts the club after they tried to sell him to Tottenham without his knowledge.

The 19-year-old forward scored ten goals in 30 Eredevisie appearances this season, and reports have linked with possible moves to Spurs and Manchester United.

Kluivert, the son of Barcelona legend Patrick, claims Ajax tried to sell him to Tottenham with Davinson Sanchez last summer without informing him.

As a result, a deal didn’t happen. But Kluivert has strongly hinted he is likely to leave Amsterdam this summer.

“I’m not renewing my contract at Ajax. Too much has happened,” he told Volkskrant (via Sky Sports).

“The decreasing morale, lack of confidence, trying to sell me to Tottenham without me knowing.

“I heard about that at the last minute. That says nothing about Ajax, but about the people in the club.

“They do want they want. I get that feeling again, they do what they want.”

Mauricio Pochettino is likely to pursue a forward this summer to add more unpredictability in the final third.

Wilfried Zaha has been mooted as a potential target for some time, but he remains insistent about staying at Crystal Palace.

Perhaps Kluivert is a more realistic option. Spurs have dealt with Ajax plenty of times in the past – indeed, it sounds like negotiations over Kluivert took place last summer.

However, the deal’s failure to materialise could have a bearing on any future transfer.

  1. Seems he’s not keen on us….would rather work with Sterling and Griffiths along with Kane to be honest…if anyone is to be bought should be Immobile from Lazio or Dembele from Celtic
