Tottenham are keeping tabs on Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy ahead of a possible summer move, according to the Mirror.

Michel Vorm, Spurs’ current reserve goalkeeper, is out of contract this summer and could choose to leave the Londoners.

If that happens, Tottenham will be in need of a new deputy for club captain Hugo Lloris.

McCarthy impressed in the latter stages of the season, coming in for Fraser Forster and putting in a number of fine performances to help Southampton escape relegation to the Championship.

And according to the Mirror, Spurs are “watching developments” as McCarthy ponders his next move.

The 28-year-old has one year remaining on his current deal with Southampton, and now faces a decision over whether to stay on the south coast.

He is also believed to be attracting the interest of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Wolves would probably be able to offer McCarthy first-team football, while he would likely be second choice at one of the ‘big six’ clubs.

Tottenham haven’t been strongly linked with any goalkeepers since former loanee Pau Lopez returned to Espanyol.
