Tottenham are ready to make a move for Atalanta defender Rafael Toloi, according to reports in Italy.

Toloi has made over 90 appearances for Atalanta since joining the Serie A side from Sao Paulo in 2015.

The Brazilian centre-back played 39 times across all competitions in 2017-18, scoring three goals and provided three assists.

And according to Mediaset (via Football Italia), Spurs are preparing an offer for the 27-year-old.

Tottenham are likely to be in need of a new centre-back this summer as Toby Alderweireld’s exit becomes more and more inevitable.

The Beglian is expected to leave Spurs in the coming weeks after failing to agree terms on a new contract earlier this year.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Alderweireld, although those reports have quietened in recent days.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has said Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele have put decisions on their futures on hold until after the World Cup.

Tottenham have also been linked with Ajax teenager Matthijs de Ligt as a potential replacement for Alderweireld.

Toloi is likely to be a lot cheaper than De Ligt, but Spurs fans will be expecting more of a prestige signing.
