Tottenham are contenders to sign Barcelona defender Jordi Alba this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Alba has made close to 250 appearances for the La Liga champions since joining from Valencia in 2012, winning four Spanish top-flight titles.
And according to Spanish outlet Diario Sport, as relayed by Football Espana, the 29-year-old left-back has just two years left on his current contract and is yet to be offered a new deal by Barcelona.
As a result, Alba has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou – and Spurs is said to be a potential destination for the Spain international.
However, the report seems far from reliable. Diario Sport cites another report from Football Whispers, which rates Tottenham’s chances of signing Alba this summer as 3.2 out of 5.
That’s a rather useless metric, and it doesn’t really tell us much at all about Spurs’ genuine chances of luring Alba to north London.
What’s more, Alba is still a regular for Barcelona – it would be a huge surprise if he left the Spanish giants before the start of next season, especially for Tottenham.
Not a chance ! Nonsensical lazy journalism by diario sport.
