Tottenham have made an offer to bring Luka Modric back to north London, according to the tabloid press in Spain.

Modric left Spurs in the summer of 2012 for Real Madrid, where has won four Champions League titles in six years.

The Croatian is considered one of the very best central midfielders in world football and is a vital cog in Madrid’s hugely successful team.

But according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Tottenham have approached Real Madrid over a deal to re-sign the 32-year-old.

Modric has been in excellent form for Croatia at the World Cup, scoring two goals in two appearances including a stunning long-range effort against Argentina.

Don Balon is often responsible for publishing far-fetched transfer rumours – they have repeatedly linked Harry Kane and Dele Alli with moves to Madrid in recent months.

With that in mind, the Modric link is merely the latest in a long line of speculative stories from the outlet.

And given Modric’s recent displays, there is almost no way Madrid will be considering allowing him to leave this summer.
