The agent of Gareth Bale has said a trip to the moon is more likely than the former Tottenham star joining Arsenal.

Bale spent six seasons at Spurs before joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 for a then-record fee of £85 million.

After winning his fourth Champions League title in the space of five years with Madrid in 2017/18, the Welshman has been linked with a move back to England.

Manchester United is thought to be his most likely destination, but a surprise return to Tottenham has also been mooted.

The arrival of new manager Julen Lopetegui could see Bale given a fresh start at the Bernabeu, but his English suitors will still fancy their chances of luring him until they hear otherwise.

And Bale’s agent, Arsenal supporter Jonathan Barnett, has been discussing his client’s future.

“He loves his life in Spain,” Barnett told Sky Sports (via the Express). “He has three children, and he’s very happy there. But we have to see.

“He has to play football. (As an Arsenal fan) I’d love him to play there but it’s got as much chance as me going to the moon.”

It’s safe to say Spurs fans will be delighted to hear those words, but many of them will be dreaming of an unlikely reunion with Bale this summer.

By the sounds of it, however, there is a good chance he will be staying in the Spanish capital.

“I think we have to have a chat with Real Madrid and see where we’re going,” added Barnett.

  1. Equaly, people loved what Wilshere said about the spuds when Arsenal won their last trophy just over a year ago. No one can remember what was said when the spuds last won the league.. was 60 or 70 years ago?

    • Jack Wilshere? Haha, the guy that isn’t deemed good enough to play for a sixth placed, Europa League Arsenal team. Yeah mate, stick him on your pedestal, hes a real pillar of football brilliance. Arsenal fans with their own brand of unintentional self deprecating humour.

  2. If this story was reversed the Gooners would jump all over it and have a opened top bus parade saying he likes us not you .Paul Barnet was joking because he knows Bales a Spurs man who knows he could of said in a couple year he wants a return .Oh and anyone comparing this with Wiltshire haha please both Bale and Wiltshire are injury prone but one noone wants because he’s overrated (even Pep suggested that and he knows what he’s talking about) and ones top 5 on the planet.
