Tottenham have made a £15.9 million offer for Beskitas and Croatia defender Domagoj Vida, according to reports in Turkey.

Vida has been one of the standout centre-backs at the 2018 World Cup so far – he was on the scoresheet in normal time and in the penalty shootout as Croatia beat hosts Russia in Saturday’s quarter-final.

The 29-year-old is now set to go head-to-head with Harry Kane when Croatia take on England in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

And according to Turkish outlet A Spor, Vida could be playing in the same side as Kane next term.

A Spor claims Spurs have lodged a £15.9 million bid for the former Dynamo Kiev star, who only joined Beskitas in January.

His performances during the second half of the season earned him a place in Croatia’s World Cup starting line-up ahead of ex-Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka.

Spurs are likely to make a move for a new centre-back this summer with Toby Alderweireld expected to leave the club.

Vida is the same age as Alderweireld, 29, so a move for the Croatian may depend on Mauricio Pochettino’s age preference – he generally pursues younger players.

  1. FFS, a report from Turkey for a 29 year old soon to be 30? What a load of bullshit. The clueless cunts in the press Worldwide connect Spurs to every fucking random going and the blogs follow like sheep.

  2. Total nonsense !! Do you guys ever check your sources? There is no way that Spurs have made a surprise offer of £15M for Vida. Spurs are linked to between 8 and 10 quality prospects who would fit at Tottenham.
Vida is not one of them. Any rumour of Tottenham bidding for a player who has not previously been considered; particularly one in the twilight of his career is highly unlikely to be true. C’mon Steve- you are better than that.
