Tottenham have made contact with the family of Boca Juniors star Wilmar Barrios ahead of a possible move for the midfielder, according to reports in Colombia.

Barrios was linked with Spurs before the World Cup, but rumours of the Londoners’ interest have intensified after the 24-year-old played a starring role in Colombia’s run to their Round of 16 clash with England.

If you didn’t know, Barrios was the one who appeared to headbutt Jordan Henderson.

Last week, reports emerged suggesting Barrios had made arrangements to join Tottenham once a fee had been agreed.

But according to Marca Colombia, Spurs are yet to make an official offer.

However, the same report claims Tottenham have made contact with Barrios’ family in order to find out if he would be interested in a move to the Premier League.

Spurs are likely to be in need of a new central midfielder this summer with Mousa Dembele expected to leave the club – he has just one year left on his contract and has been heavily linked with Inter Milan.

Tottenham are also reportedly fond of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, but Barrios would be a more affordable option.
