Alexis Sanchez has said he will be back from his current injury “soon”, opening up the possibility of the Chilean returning for Manchester United’s clash with Tottenham on Bank Holiday Monday.
The former Arsenal forward was absent for United’s 3-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon. After the game, Jose Mourinho revealed Sanchez would be out for “one or two weeks maximum,” according to the Mirror.
That means there is a chance Sanchez won’t be fit enough to play against Spurs next week. But the 29-year-old has now given reason to believe he could return for Monday’s game.
Discussing his injury in an Instagram story (spotted by the Mirror), Sanchez said he is “training to be back soon.” It’s unclear whether Sanchez will definitely be available for the Tottenham match, but he already appears to be doing gym work in order to recover.
Sanchez was on target against Spurs the last time the sides met in last season’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be looking to make it three wins out of three for the 2018/19 campaign so far.
It would be good if Alexis Sanchez is back for Monday. It is always fun to watch him play, flopping and bouncing on the turf like a seal; he spends at least half his game prone. He is really in need of some diving training but he does give it a good try.
