Talks between Tottenham and Christian Eriksen over a new contract have stalled, according to the Mail.

Eriksen, who has two years left on his remaining contract, has been one of Spurs’ standout players since Mauricio Pochettino became manager in 2014 and has been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona over the last 18 months.

The Mail claims Tottenham want to tie Eriksen down to a new long-term contract, just like they did with Pochettino and Harry Kane earlier in the summer.

However, it is believed Eriksen is keen to earn a similar salary to Kane – who is the club’s highest earner alongside captain Hugo Lloris – and the Dane won’t budge on his demands.

As a result, Spurs may have to pay Eriksen what he wants or risk the 26-year-old going into the final stretch of his contract on wages he isn’t happy with.

Tottenham fans will be hoping the club can come to an agreement with Eriksen in the near future to avoid uncertainty around his future.

Eriksen is likely to start for Spurs against Manchester United at Old Trafford tonight – check out our predicted line-up here.
