Tottenham are set to face Chelsea in the first match at their new stadium, according to the Sun.

Liverpool were originally lined up as the first visitors to play at the new White Hart Lane-based ground on September 15th, but safety concerns saw Spurs push the official opening back.

The Londoners will now play Liverpool at Wembley, and they have also confirmed the home game against Manchester City – now scheduled for October 29th – will also take place at the national stadium, as will Champions League group stage games against Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan.

The first game at the new stadium is yet to be confirmed, but the Sun claims there is a good chance Chelsea will be the first team Tottenham host at their new home on November 24th.

If true, that means Spurs will play just three more Premier League matches at Wembley, against Liverpool, Cardiff City and Manchester City.

Hopefully there aren’t too many more delays so that the club can avoid further uncertainty around potential temporary venues.

  1. 3 weeks or 3 months in the bigger picture it doesnt really matter, the squad appear comfortable at Wembley,we should concentrate on adding value to the squad in January to add to the likes of Winks and Foyth and Sony to complete on all fronts….Have faith and understanding, all will work out well…..
