Tottenham face Watford in the EFL Cup in Milton Keynes on Wednesday night hoping to gain more momentum after Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

A 2-1 defeat at Vicarage Road marked the beginning of three successive losses for Spurs, so Mauricio Pochettino will be aiming to avoid a repeat of that result against the Hornets in midweek.

With that in mind, the Argentinian has a number of decisions to make regarding his team selection.

Paulo Gazzaniga is set to play between the sticks again, and the back four in front of him could be completely changed from the Brighton game.

Juan Foyth should make his first appearance of the season if fit enough while Jan Vertonghen is likely to be left out, which is a rare occurrence.

This is also a good opportunity for Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks to get some much-needed game time in midfield.

Heung-Min Son has looked tired since returning from the Asian Games, so hopefully he is rested or only given a few minutes towards the end.

Dele Alli is fit again and should start alongside Erik Lamela and Fernando Llorente in an attacking three.

Here’s our predicted XI to face Watford – what’s yours? Let us know in the comments.

  1. A must win game. Sissoko can’t be trusted. I’d prefer to see young Amos. He’s bursting with talent and his performances preseason deserves some reward. I’d also look at replacing Llorente at half time with youth. Good luck tonight COYS

  2. A lot more pace in this midfeid, half the usual Spurs line up can’t be trusted anyway ,exited to see Foyth he’s going to be a hell of a player,
