Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe turned down a move to Tottenham before breaking into the first-team squad at Arsenal, according to the Telegraph.

Smith Rowe impressed for Arsenal in preseason and scored his first competitive goal for the Gunners against Qarabag in the Europa League last week.

But if things had turned out differently, the 18-year-old could be playing for Spurs right now.

According to the Telegraph, Smith Rowe turned down moves to Tottenham and Chelsea as a 15-year-old.

It is believed Spurs, Chelsea and Barcelona all approached the teenager, but Smith Rowe wanted to stay at the Emirates, a decision that is paying off if his recent emergence is anything to go by.

Tottenham fans will be hoping the club isn’t made to rue their failure to lure Smith Rowe to the other side of north London, just like Arsenal must still be regretting allowing Harry Kane to depart.

Kane was shortlisted for the 2018 Ballon d’Or this week alongside his club teammate Hugo Lloris and former Spurs stars Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.
