Tottenham hope Christian Eriksen will follow the lead of Harry Kane and Dele Alli by signing a new long-term contract in the near future, according to the London Evening Standard.
Alli committed his future to Spurs with a new six-year deal on Tuesday after Kane did the same thing in the summer. Mauricio Pochettino also recently signed a new contract that runs until 2023.
Eriksen’s current deal expires in the summer of 2020 and is worth around £70,000 per week. The Standard claims Tottenham are hopeful he will sign soon but a breakthrough hasn’t been made in the negotiations.
The Dane has been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent transfer windows but Spurs have managed to keep hold of him and other stars ahead of the imminent move into the new stadium.
Alli’s new deal is apparently worth £150,000 per week, making him the club’s second highest earner after Kane. It is believed Eriksen will earn a similar amount if he signs a new contract.
Hopefully it’s all sorted sooner rather than later to prevent potentially unsettling speculation about a move away in the January transfer window.
