Tottenham are considering a move for Genoa defender Koray Gunter, according to reports in Italy.
The centre-back joined Genoa from from Galatasaray on a free transfer last summer after spending the early years of his career with Borussia Dortmund.
Gunter has not been a regular starter since arriving in Serie A, but Italian outlet Calcio Mercato believes he has done enough to earn interest from Spurs and AC Milan.
Tottenham are said to be ‘very interested’ in the 24-year-old after sending scouts to watch him on a number of occasions.
The Londoners are likely to be in need of a new centre-back in the near future.
Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are both out of contract at the end of the season – Vertonghen could extend his deal but Alderweireld’s situation is more complicated.
The former Atletico Madrid defender will be able to leave for £25 million in the final two weeks of the next summer transfer window if Spurs take up the option to extend his contract by a year.
Whether Gunter is a good enough replacement is up for debate. Tottenham fans will probably be expecting a bigger name.
