Dimitar Berbatov has admitted he was on tenterhooks during Tottenham’s draw with Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Lucas Moura’s late equaliser saw Spurs secure a vital point at the Nou Camp, with Inter Milan’s draw against PSV Eindhoven ensuring the Londoners’ place in the last 16.
At times it looked as if it wouldn’t be Tottenham’s night. Ousmane Dembele took advantage of a Kyle Walker-Peters mistake in the early stages to open the scoring, and Spurs missed some good chances to equalise.
But Mauricio Pochettino’s men kept fighting and eventually equalised through substitute Lucas after some fine work from Harry Kane down the left.
Berbatov, who played for Spurs between 2006-2008, was on punditry duty for BT Sport on the night.
And the Bulgarian’s hilarious post-match comments made it clear he still has a lot of love for his former club.
“I think I sweat more tonight than I ever did as a player!” Berbatov said.
Tottenham were moments away from joining Arsenal and Chelsea in the Europa League, but instead they will be playing in Europe’s elite competition in the new year, possibly at their new White Hart Lane-based stadium.
Never say never. They are also humans..
If everyone plays together..n be that faster..Spurs can do a ” Leicester ” in d Championship..
Come on ye Spurs. You CAN.
