Tottenham are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes next summer if Everton don’t buy him in January, according to the Telegraph.

Gomes is currently on a season-long loan at Everton, and his good start to life in the Premier League could see the Toffees make a permanent move for the Spaniard next month.

However, the Telegraph claims Gomes could wait until next summer – when Spurs will be keen to secure a deal – to evaluate his options.

The 25-year-old was heavily linked with Tottenham over the summer but Everton managed to sign him on loan on deadline day.

Spurs didn’t sign a single player in the summer window and Danny Rose believes Mauricio Pochettino might opt against bringing in any new recruits in January, too.

That would increase the likelihood of signings next summer, and Gomes appears to have done enough to make himself a Tottenham target.

Pochettino will be in need of a new central midfielder if Mousa Dembele leaves as expected. The Belgian is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with clubs in Italy and China.
