Danny Rose has said he doesn’t think Mauricio Pochettino will sign new players for Tottenham in the January transfer window.
Spurs failed to bring in a single new recruit over the summer. As a result, expectations of a busy winter transfer window have risen.
But Rose, who played a starring role in Tuesday night’s memorable draw with Barcelona, believes Pochettino could opt against strengthening his squad next month.
“It’s no secret all the teams have spent a lot more than what we have,” Rose said (via the Independent). “The manager did not make any signings in the summer and he is probably not going to make any signings in January.
“For him to do what he has done and what he is doing now speaks volumes of him. It’s no coincidence big teams are being linked with him. We hope he stays for a really long time.”
Rose’s quotes come as fresh reports of Real Madrid interest in Pochettino begin to do the rounds.
Pochettino was heavily linked with the La Liga giants in the summer, but Madrid have appointed two different head coaches since then.
Reports suggest Tottenham’s players believe their manager will have a decision to make between staying in north London and moving to the Bernabeu next summer.
For that reason, perhaps Spurs will back Pochettino in the coming transfer window, although the Argentinian is known to ignore the chance to sign players for the sake of it.
