Arsenal have made a £29 million bid for AS Roma forward Cengiz Under but could face competition for his signature from Tottenham, according to the Sun.

Under was heavily linked with Spurs before he joined Roma from Turkish side Basaksehir in the summer of 2017.

The 21-year-old scored eight goals in 32 appearances across all competitions during his first season in Italy and has found the net five games so far this term, including three goals in six Champions League outings.

And according to the Sun, his form has tempted Arsenal into a £29 million offer.

It is believed Tottenham are set to lodge a bid of their own at some point in the future, but Roma are not desperate to sell in the January transfer window.

Spurs didn’t make a single signing over the summer and it is possible they will bring in a new recruit or two next month.

However, Mauricio Pochettino may opt against buying players for a second successive window if his targets prove unattainable.

Tottenham face Arsenal in the EFL Cup quarter-finals at the Emirates on Wednesday night.
