Mauricio Pochettino has said Tottenham must create a similar atmosphere to Liverpool’s at Anfield when the Londoners move into their new stadium.
Spurs are currently second in the Premier League having won their last five matches, jumping over champions Manchester City in the table.
They remain six points behind leaders Liverpool, who they were supposed to play against in their first game at the new stadium in mid-September.
Instead, the game took place at Wembley and Liverpool ran out 2-1 winners.
And Pochettino, who has been heavily linked with Manchester United since the Red Devils sacked Jose Mourinho earlier this month, has heaped praise on the atmosphere Liverpool create in home games.
“You can feel, like yesterday when I saw the highlights from Anfield, that the fans are desperate to win and they’re showing their support to the team,” Pochettino said (via ESPN).
“Yesterday Anfield was amazing. Every game Liverpool play at Anfield is a party and that sometimes makes the difference.”
The fans will be close to the pitch at Tottenham’s new stadium, just like Anfield, the original White Hart Lane and other traditional grounds.
The one-tier kop behind one of the goals should also help to generate an improved atmosphere in home games.
Spurs have announced they will play a Premier League home match against Manchester United on January 13 but could move into their new stadium soon after that.
If Spurs can overtake Liverpool to become PL champion comes next May, I will drop my pants and run round the streets of London.????hahaha hehehe!
`dont worry pal, i wouldn’t see it happening soon
