Real Madrid are interested in signing Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez, according to reports in Spain.

Sanchez joined Spurs in the summer of 2017 for a club record fee from Ajax. The Colombian made 41 appearances in his debut season and has followed that up with 15 appearances so far this term.

Before he arrived at Tottenham, there were rumours Real Madrid and Barcelona had considered pursuing him while he was an Ajax player, but Spurs swooped first and the 22-year-old is now a vital member of first-team squad.

According to Spanish outlet Don Ballon, Madrid are plotting a €65 million (£58.5) for Sanchez, who is said to be frustrated with being used as a substitute.

Sanchez played regularly last season because of Toby Alderweireld’s injury and contract situation. Now Alderweireld is back in Mauricio Pochettino’s good books, Sanchez’s playing time has been reduced slightly.

That said, Sanchez has struggled with injuries of his own and I’d be surprised if he is concerned with the current minutes he is getting.

Alderweireld is likely to leave at some point over the next 18 months, meaning Sanchez should be a guaranteed starter in the near future.

  1. “..who is said to be frustrated with being used as a substitute.” Well, that’s not true that he’s been used as a substitute. Since the start of the Premier League season he has had a run of games during a very busy period for Spurs recently. He has also played in the European Champions League. He’s been playing while Jan Vertonghen was unavailable for weeks because of injury. He got rested recently after sustaining an injury, but played again only last week. He’s very young and yet has played a lot this season and last season, but is just the kind of player not long at Spurs who is bound to get targeted by other big-name clubs. He should be as flattered as any other Spurs players at being envied by other clubs, but play on at Spurs where he is developing nicely while playing regularly.

  2. No chance Spurs will let Sanchez go. He recently resigned a 5 year deal.
Levy would want around the same money as Liverpool paid for Van Dijk to even consider selling him.
He is the heir to the Spurs CB crown, he would understand that competing on so many fronts all squad players need to be rotated.

  3. How do you make this stuff up ? He has been injured most of the season. Unless you think he can hop around the pitch, his playing time could not be more than it is. Total absolute abject junk journalism.

  4. This is how I know this is absolute horse bollocks.

We got him for 42m + his age (22) + his WC experience + 5 years left on his contract multiplied that by the fact they’d be dealing with Levy =\= 58.5m. not even close

  5. The Spanish outfit Don Balon are a renowned bunch of liars, on par with the Daily Star and Sun. You’ve got to be pretty thick if you believe anything written by those clowns and a plagiarist for repeating their nonsense on your blog without questioning.
