Boca Juniors want to sign Tottenham defender Juan Foyth in the January transfer window, according to reports in Argentina.

Foyth has broken into Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team plans this term after failing to make a single Premier League appearance during his debut season in England.

The 20-year-old joined Spurs from Argentine club Estudiantes in the summer of 2017 but only played in cup competitions in 2017/18.

Earlier in the current campaign, reports emerged of a possible loan move to Championship side Leeds United in January, but injuries meant Foyth was needed for Tottenham.

Despite giving away two penalties on his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Foyth has shown plenty of promise in every appearance he has made so far.

But according to Argentine outlet Doble Amarilla, Boca Juniors want to sign Foyth on loan next month.

There is almost no chance of this happening. Pochettino has heavily rotated his squad so far this season because of injuries and fatigue, and Foyth has been a crucial member of the group in that regard.

Uncertainty remains around the future of Toby Alderweireld, so letting Foyth leave would be too much of a risk.

  1. Absolutely effing NOT! With Verts and Toby both getting up there a little bit in age. Foyth is definitely to be kept for the future. Who knows If Toby will ever sign a new contract (even as Spurs activate the 1 year option on his contract)?

  2. No way,
We need to be able to rotate because we are still in everything. Foyth is a valuable part of that rotation, loaning him out at this point of this season would be complete insanity. Who makes up this pointlessness?

  3. Joining Boca Juniors even just on loan would be a huge step down in quality and in an inferior league. Would not be a smart move for his development
