Roma are contenders to sign Barcelona wantaway and reported Tottenham target Malcom having already opened talks over winger, according to the Sun.

Earlier this week, reports suggested Spurs are keen on Malcom, who was apparently recently offered to Chelsea as part of a swap deal for Willian.

Now, the Sun claims Roma are threatening Tottenham’s pursuit of the Brazilian, who is said to be the subject of talks between the Serie A club and Barcelona.

It is believed Roma want to take Malcom on loan for the rest of the season, and with Spurs yet to make their move, the Italians are favourites to get a deal done.

Tottenham are short in attack with Harry Kane sidelined because of an ankle injury and Son Heung-min away with South Korea at the Asian Cup.

However, Pochettino would probably prefer a centre-forward over a winger – Malcom is more effective out wide than through the middle.

A pay-as-you-play deal for ex-Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi has been mooted in the Italian media, but it strikes us as a little unrealistic.

  1. Nothing to do with interest from another club
Spurs could have this player and others if Levy would spend the cash and pay the correct wages!
Spurs are running the risk of loosing players if levy dies not get his act together
He has held the squad back over the past few years with silly transfers and failing to invest correctly in the squad. Spurs maybe in a good position now! But lack of depth in the squad in some positions may well cause issues between now and the end of the season!
Levy will not authorise spending a lot in this window! Risking the loss of players
Spurs cannot afford to loose Toby or Eriksen and it reports are correct it is wages that is the issue!!
