Tottenham’s hopes of winning the EFL Cup this season are over. Mauricio Pochettino’s men were eliminated on penalties by Chelsea after losing the semi-final second leg 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Fernando Llorente struggled up front in the first half but went from zero to hero with a fine headed goal after the break, levelling the aggregate scoreline.
However, it is clear Spurs are lacking an adequate centre forward in Harry Kane’s absence, and it’s one of the club’s biggest issues right now.
The problem was highlighted by a huge chance Llorente had to put Tottenham ahead in the tie. Christian Eriksen played an inch-perfect pass to the Spaniard, who couldn’t get enough contact on the ball. Watch below.
