Heung-min Son is officially heading back to Tottenham after South Korea were eliminated from the Asian Cup.
The Koreans lost to Qatar in the quarter-finals, ending the dream of replicating their gold medal success at the Asian Games back in September.
It’s bad news for Son’s country, but there is no pretending it isn’t great news for Spurs, who have been absolutely desperate for Son to return.
Mauricio Pochettino is currently without Harry Kane and Dele Alli through injury, so Son’s absence came at the worst possible time.
Fernando Llorente has started up front in the last two matches, scoring an own goal at Fulham before finding the net at the right end against Chelsea.
But despite his goal(s), the Spaniard has struggled to lead the line and Son is likely to come back into the team as soon as possible.
Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Crystal Palace may come too soon, but the 26-year-old could be available for next week’s Premier League game against Watford and Wembley.
Here are some of the best reactions to Son’s return from Twitter.

When does his flight arrive? Does he need a lift from Heathrow to Selhurst Park?

Personally, I’m going to choose not to take joy in our most likeable player’s disappointment, but each to their own.
