Tottenham have held talks with Chelsea over the potential loan signing of Michy Batshuayi on deadline day, according to Sky Sports News.

However, it is believed Spurs have decided not to pursue a move for the striker.

The news broke on Sky Sports news around lunchtime on deadline day. A reporter claimed Tottenham had discussed the possibility of taking Batshuayi from Chelsea on a temporary basis.

It was then revealed a decision had been taken on the deal, with Spurs turning down the opportunity.

Batshuayi will apparently join Everton, West Ham United or Real Betis before the transfer window closes – it’s unclear whether he will leave on loan or permanently.

Spurs and Chelsea very rarely enter negotiations with each other over players, so the report is certainly questionable.

Fernando Llorente scored the winner against Watford on Wednesday night and is likely to stay on until his contract expires in the summer, meaning Tottenham are unlikely to sign a new striker today.

Batshuayi would have likely had doubts about joining Spurs and being back-up to Harry Kane when the England striker returns from an ankle injury.

  1. Why wouldnt a striker come to spurs just because Harry Kane is there. Every club in the premiere league have way more that 1 striker. City / man utd have loads of good strikers but it doesnt stop other top strikers from joining them

  2. Players get way more time to prove themselves at spurs, Batshuayi should have come to spurs when they first went in for him. Where is his career now. Same said for Grealish etc etc. Just look at Ali and Kane etc why any young talent wouldnt want to go to spurs is beyond me.
