Tottenham were among a group of clubs that attempted to sign Real Madrid starlet David de la Vibora before the youngster signed a new deal with the European champions, according to reports in Spain.
De la Vibora, 16, agreed terms on his first professional contract with Madrid last week, but Spanish outlet AS claims the La Liga giants had a difficult time convincing the teenager to commit his future to the club.
It is believed Spurs, Juventus, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool all made attempts to lure De La Vibora away from the Bernabeu, but in the end all of the clubs mentioned were unsuccessful.
De la Vibora is a left-back who has been impressing for Madrid’s youth sides. A number of clubs had clearly been put on alert about a delay to the 16-year-old agreeing a professional deal in the Spanish capital.
Tottenham are likely to be monitoring left-backs ahead of the summer transfer window. Danny Rose has played well in recent weeks but is still slightly unreliable when it comes to fitness, while Ben Davies has struggled to rediscover his best form this term.
