Davinson Sanchez and Kieran Trippier will almost certainly start against Chelsea and Arsenal after being left out of Tottenham’s squad for Saturday’s defeat at Burnley.

During a Q&A on Monday, Football London journalist Alasdair Gold – usually reliable on all things Spurs – revealed Sanchez and Trippier missed the visit to Burnley with coming matches in mind.

That suggests Mauricio Pochettino has plans to start the duo against Chelsea and possibly Arsenal too.

There are a number of options Pochettino has to include Sanchez and Trippier in the line-up. If he wants to stick with a back three, Sanchez will likely replace Juan Foyth in a straight swap.

Trippier would then come in at right wing-back, replacing Aurier, who was subpar against Burnley. However, the Ivory Coast international could return to the line-up against Borussia Dortmund next week after impressing in the first leg.

Meanwhile, Eric Dier was also left out of the squad against Burnley but for different reasons. The midfield was ill, according to Football London, and his availability for Chelsea and Arsenal is unknown right now.
