Tottenham are interested in signing Villarreal playmaker Pablo Fornals this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

Fornals, a full Spain international, has scored four goals and provided four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

TEAMtalk cites reports from earlier this month suggesting Napoli are targeting Fornals as a replacement for Marek Hamsik, who has agreed to join Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang.

The story goes on to claim Tottenham and Manchester City have joined Arsenal and Napoli in the race to sign Fornals in the summer transfer window.

Spurs scouts have apparently filed positive reports on the 23-year-old, who Arsenal want to replace Aaron Ramsey – the Welshman will join Juventus when his contract ends at the end of the season.

With that logic in mind, perhaps Tottenham are considering Fornals as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen, whose contract situation has resulted in links with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Fornals apparently has a release clause of around €25 million, a relatively low price in today’s market.
