Tottenham Hotspur have been monitoring the progress of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, according to the Daily Mail.

Lo Celso is currently on loan at Real Betis, for whom he has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions this season.

The 22-year-old has been lighting up La Liga, and Betis have an option to sign him for just £21.5m at the end of the season – a relatively low fee in today’s market.

But according to the Mail, Spurs are keeping tabs on Lo Celso ahead of a possible summer move for the Argentinian.

Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be familiar with the player as they are both from the same country. Lo Celso has made 11 appearances for the Argentine national team, scoring once.

Tottenham are in need of a new central midfielder after Mousa Dembele left for the Chinese Super League in the January transfer window.

The Londoners may need a slightly more defensive option than Lo Celso, particularly if Victor Wanyama leaves the club. Regardless, he’d be a useful addition to the squad.

  1. If we would not be in the CL next year it will be very difficult to buy top players. Even now this is happening let alone then.
