Tottenham Hotspur could listen to offers for Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier this summer, according to Telegraph journalist Matt Law.

In his weekly Spurs briefing email, Law details five players who the club may be willing to sell at the end of the season.

Three aren’t a huge surprise. Toby Alderweireld is expected to leave after activating a £25 million release clause in his contract that can be triggered in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Christian Eriksen is out of contract at the end of next season and Tottenham may have to sell the Dane this summer or risk losing him for nothing when his deal expires at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

And Victor Wanyama will almost certainly leave after struggling for game time as a result of injuries over the last two seasons.

But rather unexpectedly, Law also suggests Tottenham might listen to offers for Vertonghen and Dier.

Vertonghen is also out of contract at the end of next season, meaning Spurs may want to cash in and the player could be keen on a move away. We think it’s unlikely though – he will probably see out his current deal.

Meanwhile, Dier has two years left on his contract but apparently isn’t seen as a guaranteed starter by Mauricio Pochettino anymore. No talks over an extension have taken place, says Law, so a departure is plausible.

  1. Dier without beard and crewcut would be an improvement. He looks like a crew member from ‘Master and Commander: the far side of there world’. It’s as if a girlfriend has encouraged him to ugly-up as a way of holding on to him. As a player though he’s fine when fit and focused. And that tackle of his on Ramos, plus the winning penalty for England in a penalty shoot-out last summer, are remembered with a smile.

As for suggested departures from Tottenham this coming summer — I’ll believe that when I see it. The players mentioned in the article usually play well for Spurs, especially when match-fit and back in the groove.
