Tottenham Hotspur will take a 1-0 lead to the Etihad after edging past Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Son Heung-min scored his second goal in as many games at the new stadium but the result was somewhat marred by Harry Kane’s ankle injury.

Here’s how every Spurs player rated on the night.

Hugo Lloris, 8 – Saved his third successive penalty and kept everything else out comfortably. Good distribution, too.

Kieran Trippier, 7 – Dealt with Raheem Sterling well and made some useful interceptions. His crossing could have been better.

Toby Alderweireld, 7 – As solid as ever defensively, passing the ball with head instead of merely clearing it.

Jan Vertonghen, 6 – Won everything at the back but I counted four times he gave the ball away with an aimless pass into midfield.

Danny Rose, 6 – Unfortunate with the penalty decision. Looked shaky for some time afterwards but eventually recovered.

Moussa Sissoko, 7 – A little sloppy at times but never stopped running, tackling and working.

Harry Winks, 7 – Wasn’t involved much in the first half but was commanding and composed after the break.

Christian Eriksen, 7 – Just like against Crystal Palace, his final ball was subpar until a pinpoint assist for the opening goal.

Dele Alli, 6 – Uncharacteristically indecisive in the final third but worked hard until he left the pitch with a wrist injury.

Son Heung-min, 8 – It didn’t quite look like it would happen for him but he ended up scoring a crucial well-taken winner.

Harry Kane, 7 – Gave the City centre-backs a torrid time but yet another ankle injury marred an otherwise excellent night for the hosts.

Subs: Lucas Moura 7, Victor Wanyama N/A, Fernando LLorente N/A.

I appreciate you finding the time and effort to put this article together.

I once again find myself spending way too much time both
reading and leaving comments. But so what, it was still worthwhile!
